Budget Highligths – F/Y-2070/71

Total budget: Rs 517.24 billion

Regular Expenditure: Rs 275.66 billion

Development Expenditure: Rs 241.58 billion

Employee’s salary to increase by 18% along with dearness allowance of 1000 rupees for all level staffs.

Tax exemption limit increased from Rs 160,000 to Rs 200,000 for individual and Rs 200000 to Rs 250,000 for married salaried

Increment on duty of cigarettes by 9 % without filter

Increment on duty of cigarettes by 12 % with filter

Increment on excise duty in beer by 11 %

Increment on duty in alcohol items from 10.5 to 15 % depending on the brand and quality

Increment on import duty of cement by Rs 200 per ton

50 % rebate on customs duty for the import of news print imported by publication houses for their own publication.

Supply tax on Sand and Boulders doubled to curb illegal supply to India

The budget to bring back brick manufacturers in the VAT net

Skill development training to 22000 youths

Entrepreneurship orientation training to 50000 people

Economic growth projected for F/Y 2070/71 at 5.5 %.

Inflation rate estimated at 8 %.
